From SanFranciscoEVA
Contents |
The San Francisco Electric Vehicle Association promotes the use of electric vehicles of all types but it does not endorse any particular manufacturers, brands, dealers, or vehicles. The information on this page is provided to assist potential EV buyers to learn more about the choices available. The information listed is primarily from press releases and published information and has not been independently verified.
This section covers new cars and trucks that are designed for freeway use and meet the Federal safety standards. Smaller vehicles designed not to exceed 25 mph are described in the neighborhood electric vehicle NEVs section. There are also enclosed three wheel electric vehicles designed for one or two occupants that are classified as motorcycles. We've listed information about those vehicles in the Scooters-Cycles section.
Plug In America's vehicle tracker at http://www.pluginamerica.org/plug-in-vehicle-tracker.html lists the status of vehicles in development as well as those in production by manufacturers world wide.

Review of the Nissan Renault Mule
On the first Friday of April 09 I had the opportunity to test drive a Nissan Cube with the new Nissan electric power train installed. The Cube is the test Mule. There is no name for the proposed vehicle, but putting the drive train in a Cube shows the CEO of Nissans commitment to EVs. They had a large group of Nissan employees explaining the car to anyone who would listen & refreshments/food to keep you busy while waiting for a test drive. They did the event with style. The car will have a four hour recharge time, 100 mile range & a top price of 33k. It also has a proprietary Nissan battery made by an outside vendor. Charging with a quick charge system is 26 minutes. It is still not known if it will be a two or four door. The Cube is the best conversion I've driven & I wonder why they just don't use the Cube as one model of their electric. On the drive the car handled well and had peppy acceleration with re gen. It seems that Nissan is committed to the EV cause. The car could be here within the year. Reviewed by Lawrence Rhodes.
